A day after Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff said a ceasefire agreement could be reached this week, the US president now seems reluctant to commit to a specific timeframe. Talks between Trump and Netanyahu in Washington failed to reach a breakthrough while indirect negotiations continue between Israel and Hamas in Qatar. Hamas says ceasefire negotiations have been “difficult” because of what it calls Israel's stubbornness. Al Jazeera's Nour Odeh is following those talks from Jordan's capital Amman. She's there because the Israeli government has banned Al Jazeera from reporting inside Israel and the occupied West Bank. Adnan Hayajneh, a professor of international relations and US foreign policy at Qatar University, says Israel is trying to buy time as it works to implement a wider vision of forcing the Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip.
