Oxford historian Avi Shlaim, an Iraqi-born British-Israeli scholar and one of Israel’s “New Historians,” says that killing children, killing civilians, and ethnic cleansing are not Jewish, drawing a firm line between Judaism and Zionism. He argues that the Israeli state’s actions in Gaza violate core Jewish ethical values and are widening the gap between Israel and Jews around the world.
