Trump calls on allies to secure Strait of Hormuz after bombing Iran’s ‘oil island’

 

 

The US bombs Iran's key oil infrastructure - Kharg Island - as Donald Trump calls for the UK and allies to help secure the Strait of Hormuz. The battleground of the Israel-US war on Iran again focuses on oil - in particular that narrow gap of water, the Strait of Hormuz. Its global significance and the fifth of the world's oil and gas which passes through it. Donald Trump has once again increased pressure on UK Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, urging the UK and others to send ships to the area, saying the US will open the strait of Hormuz "one way or the other". Iran, though, maintains it'll remain shut to US ships and called for their withdrawal from the Gulf. So where does this leave one of the most important oil routes in the world?
