Iran accuses US and Israel of targeting schools and hospitals at UN meeting

Iran's ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, has condemned recent US and Israeli military strikes on Iranian cities as a calculated act of aggression and a flagrant violation of the UN Charter. Speaking at the United Nations Security Council, Iravani claimed hundreds of civilians were killed, including 165 schoolgirls in Minab when their school was deliberately destroyed, with further attacks targeting hospitals, Red Crescent buildings and densely populated residential areas. He accused Washington and Tel Aviv of targeting Iran's Supreme Leader and senior military officials, calling it an egregious breach of international law. Iran has invoked its right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter, vowing to respond decisively whilst insisting it targets only military objectives, not civilians or neighbouring states' interests.
